Matt spent a large majority of his time on the road this quarter. Back to back expos and clinics kept him and his horses very busy in their travels to Pennsylvania, Virginia, Nebraska, and Texas. Coral’s rejection of retirement through hunger strikes and farm demolition resulted in a compromise - semi-retirement. The compromise seems to agree with Coral who lit up in the spotlights and performed with the energy of a horse half his age. His attitude and exuberant play during turn out make Matt’s younger stallions hang their heads in shame.
Coral’s nephew, Pecos, began his expo career with flying colors. His dressage act was well received and he has been invited back for more. Pecos worked hard during his exhibition and clinic demonstrations and truly enjoyed all the attention in stallion row. If asked, however, Pecos would probable say his least favorite moment was having to go sideways over a blue barrel in the Bob Jeffery and Susan Sheppard’s Wind Rider Challenge Finals in PA. That is just not right! We continue to be impressed with Pecos’ work ethic, enthusiasm, and eager to please attitude. These traits enable an unexpectedly rapid training rate, which will allow Pecos to easily fill his uncle’s shoes, if his uncle ever decides to retire.
Del Amor, our pure black Andalusian stallion, debuted at his first Stallion demonstration at the PA World Horse Expo. His first experience in front of a crowd with loud music and horse-eating banners went off without a hitch. Del Amor was excited to see all the activity on stallion row and only moved the stall over a few inches in his efforts to see everything that was going on around him. When purchased, Del Amor was convinced his only purpose in life was to look good and toss his beautiful head and mane. We are happy to see his growing interest in working as hard as the rest of our crew and have high expectations for his expo debut later this year.
