ANNOUNCEMENTS
Lori

Cooper V

Allegro

After 20 years of working for the Lipizzaner Stallion Show, achieving the head trainer position, and finishing many haute ecole, airs and Grand Prix level dressage horses, Lori made the transition to working for Matt McLaughlin Dressage on a full time basis this September.  Lori is now available for lessons and clinics, and is accepting training horses.

Cooper V, who had a successful 2010 competition year with Matt and Heather, is now available for sale.  Cooper is a black 16.2 hand 13 year old registered Danish Warmblood gelding.  Cooper’s average 2010 scores at PSG and Intermediare 1 were in the mid-60%, with a high of 71% at PSG.  Cooper ended the season by placing fifth at Intermediare I in the 2011 USDF Region 3 Championships.  Currently schooling Grand Prix, Cooper is a talented horse with superior movement and a fabulous passage.  An affectionate, people oriented horse, Cooper is suited for a professional looking to compete internationally yet kind enough for an amateur to campaign as well.

Another addition to our sales program is a registered Friesian Sport Horse mare, Saphira.  Saphira is a 6 years old 15.1 hand Friesian/Quarter Horse cross.  Currently schooling first level dressage, Saphira is an affectionate mare with a fabulous trot. She enjoys work, is eager to please, and would be a steady mount for a young rider or amateur.

Our most recent addition to the sales program is a 2 ½ year old registered Andalusian colt sired by our P.R.E./Andalusian stallion Enamorado XXVI.  Currently 16 hands, Allegro has three excellent gaits and a people oriented personality.  He trailers, clips and has good ground manners.  See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmb7zHpSLI for video footage.  For photos and more information on our sales horses, please see their albums on our facebook page www.facebook.com/mattmclaughlindressage

We are accepting applications for working students again.  We have an immediate opening for a student who will share living quarters with our current student, Melissa, or will have a single student opening starting in March 2012.  Melissa has made impressive progress in her riding since she arrived and just started learning to long-line.  As her long-line horse is Coral, who is a bit grumpy about it, she will have no choice but to excel in that as well!  Students must stay for at least a three month period of time. Duties include feeding, cleaning stalls, tack cleaning, exercising horses, and various routine farm chores. Students will work 5 days a week and receive 2 lessons per week. Housing and a food/gas allowance are included. If you are interested, please contact Heather at clinics@matt-mclaughlin.com.

Congratulations to Jennifer Freeman who purchased our PSG Lipizzaner Conversano Chantella.  We wish the new team all the best in the upcoming show season.

RECENT HIGHLIGHTS

Realizing some of these are not ‘recent’ highlights because the newsletter production shop was seriously delinquent this summer, please read these as a section catching you up on all the fun we have had since the last newsletter…in April.

Exhibitions:  In April, Pecos, Coral and Matt made the cross country trek to California to perform during the Del Mar Western week.  Matt liked Del Mar so much he stayed an extra week to play…making a total mess of Heather’s schedule of chores.

Pecos and Coral performed again in Brooksville, Florida, at Tommy Turvey’s ‘Night of Amazing Horses’ event in May.  We were impressed by the excellent local support for the event and as usual, had fun performing with Tommy Turvey and his team of equine extremists.

Our P.R.E/Andalusian Pecos was selected as the 2011 Celebration Horse for Breyerfest.  In July, Pecos and his uncle, Coral, traveled to Lexington, Kentucky, to participate in the three-day Breyer model horse annual event.  Proving to be an excellent poser, Pecos patiently stood for hundreds of photographs with the convention participants and their limited edition Pecos Breyer models.  As well as posing and signing autographs, Pecos, Coral, Heather, and Matt performed exhibition acts for the crowd.  We were able to obtain some of the Pecos Breyer models and they are now available for purchase on our website store while supplies last.

In early November, our entire team participated in the Fabulous Freestyle Fundraiser in New Smyrna, Florida.  The event supported Freedom Ride, a horse-back riding program for the disabled.  Cooper, Versatil, Matt, and Lori demonstrated 2nd level through Grand Prix dressage movements for the audience.  Cooper and Heather performed an Intermediare level freestyle to music from the Kill Bill soundtrack.

Competitions:  Cooper V and Heather competed at the Suncoast Sunburn in Tampa, Florida in June.  In a marathon of a weekend, they earned scores at 4th level and PSG ranging from 60 to 67%, which earned all of Heather’s required scores for her USDF silver medal rider’s award.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Clinics:
Matt is currently booked to give clinics in Venice, Geneva and Ocala, Florida in November.  In December he will be teaching in Aiken, SC and Pastures, VA.  If you are interested in participating or auditing at these clinics please see the calendar on Matt’s website for contact information.  If you are interested in hosting a clinic with Matt at your facility, please contact Heather at clinics@matt-mclaughlin.com.  We are currently booking venues starting in January 2012.

Competition:  We are looking forward to the 2012 show season.  Matt will be competing Cooper V and Versatil Imagem at a few of the Wellington competitions.  Our P.R.E./Andalusian stallion Enamorado XXVI will also debut in dressage competitions at Orlando area events.
